English Language

English Language manages all courses of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) offered through TAFE NSW, including English for Vocational Purposes such as the Introductory Vocational Studies (IVS) and English for Vocational Purposes (EVP) programs.

This program area also manages the Reading Writing Hotline, a national telephone referral service for adults seeking to improve their reading and writing. Callers can ring from anywhere within Australia for the cost of a local call on

The integration of English language and literacy into vocational education is a stated goal of the National Training Framework and therefore the activities of this program area are relevant to all industry areas.

The International Students Centre assists and advises international students who would like to study in Australia on a student visa at a TAFE NSW institute, TAFE English language centre or a NSW government high school.   International Students can get help at all stages, from initial enquiries through to post course completion.
