Australian Drug Foundation (ADF) - works to reduce alcohol & drug problems using the media and other communications to influence public policy, law and legislation.

Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS) - provides research projects information, publications, resources, a library, links and other information. 

Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) - provides information mental health, alcohol & other drugs, etc. as well as downloadable publications.

Commonwealth Carelink Centres - information centres for older people, people with disabilities and those who provide care and services.

Council of the Ageing (COTA) - is the peak consumer organisation dedicated to protecting and promoting the well-being of older people.

Department of Health and Ageing - provides manuals for purchase &/or download including Standards & Guidelines for Residential Aged Care Services.

Druginfo - the NSW Government site on drug issues outlines policies, provides factsheets on drugs, information on legal issues, plus information on the role of parents, families, and the broader community in reducing drug abuse.

Drug Policy Alliance (DPA) - a US drug policy organisation working to broaden and better inform the public debate on drug policy and related issues.

Family Court of Australia - provides information about the Court's services, costs &  procedures as well as a range of brochures & booklets.

Families and Friends for Drug Law Reform (FFDLR) - seeks laws and policies which will eliminate the deaths and minimise the health and social harm; provides a range of information & resources.

HealthInsite - provides easy access to a wide range of high quality information about human health.

Infoxchange Australia - an extensive collection of resources concerning housing, youth and community services.

Multicultural Mental Health Australia (MMHA) - provides national leadership in mental health and suicide prevention for Australians from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds

National Ageing Research Institute (NARI) - a centre of excellence in Australia for research into ageing and improving the quality of life and health of older people.

National Centre for Education and Training on Addiction (NCETA) - provides a range of Workplace related resources and publications.

National Child Protection Clearinghouse (NCPC) - collects, produces & distributes information/resources, conducts research & offers specialist advice on the latest developments in child abuse prevention, child protection and associated violence.

NSW Drug Summit 1999 - provides information about the NSW Drug Summit that was held in May, 1999.

NSW Government: Health - access information about health conditions, groups & organisations, healthy living as well as many links.

PsychCentral: Resources - a mental health social network providing an extensive annotated directory of online resources.

Quitnow - the National Tobacco Campaign one-stop-shop with all the information you need on quitting smoking.

Support for Carers - information form the Department of Health & Ageing.

 Other information

Additional information for this area may available via the wide variety of social software (link to Wikipedia) & other Internet services where people share their knowledge and connect/collaborate/communicate with others around the world who have similar interests. • Wikis where information is published online through the collaborative input of many people - this information is then available for all to access & edit.
    • wikipedia  - an encyclopaedia with versions in a number of languages
    • wikispaces - used by individuals, education & special interest groups   
   
• Blogs (or web logs) are essentially online journals or diaries presented in reverse chronological order. Groups often use them to promote informal discussion on particular topics or issues.
    • blogger - search for relevant blogs with keywords of your choice
   
• RSS - this is a way of having a summary of information (or feeds) 'delivered' to your web browser or aggregator as it becomes available from online newspapers, magazines or special interest websites.
    • bloglines - an excellent way of managing your RSS subscriptions or Feeds
    
• Social bookmarking sites where users post their list of bookmarks (or favourite websites) for others to search and view. There are specialised services for particular interest groups.
    • del.icio.us is perhaps the best known general social bookmaking service
   
• Newsgroups & mailing lists are older types of Internet services (or forums) which are mainly used these days by special interest groups.
    • tile.net allows you to do keyword searches of these services
