Overview

 Who we are

Community Services, Health, Tourism & Recreation Curriculum Centre (CSHTR)specialises in meeting the vocational education and training needs of industry and the community in the areas of Community Services, Health, Recreation, Tourism, Hospitality, Meat Processing and Baking Services. 

Our core role is to develop competency based training courses, training programs, educational pathways, flexible teaching and assessment strategies and learner resource materials to support the implementation of training packages. We also play a significant role in contributing to and implementing vocational education and training policy and practice at both state and national levels. 

Our products cater for the needs of: 
   • employees in small and large enterprises and in community organisations 
   • individuals entering the workforce or progressing their careers 
   • commercial clients seeking to develop partnerships and business opportunities
     in vocational education and training.

CSHTR offers its customers access to a wide range of vocational education services, a network of professional contacts and resources including those within the TAFE system throughout Australia, industry bodies and state and federal government and other training providers. 

Our core capabilities include: 
   • a strong customer focus
   • knowledge of current education and training trends in industry and the community
   • access to professional staff with relevant educational and technical expertise
   • effective management support systems and processes that are quality certified

Our products and services are developed and maintained through a quality management system complying with the requirements of the international quality system standard AS/NZS ISO 9001. This standard provides a model for quality assurance in the design and development of curriculum related products and services, the provision of consultancy services in curriculum related areas and the professional development of teachers and trainers.

 Our products & services

CSHTR Curriculum Centre liaises with industry and community organisations, government agencies, professional associations and relevant Industry Training Advisory Boards including the NSW Community Services and Health Industry Training Advisory Board, Tourism Training, NSW Sport and Recreation Industry Training Advisory Board and NSW Food Industry Training Council.

CSHTR specialises in the following services:

  • Curriculum research and development consultancy
    • conducting educational research
    • analysing and evaluating training needs
    • designing courses and training programs
    • designing learning and assessment for the workplace
    • packaging training programs and materials for accreditation
    • evaluating courses and training programs
    • customising products to meet specific customer requirements
     
  • Product development and production
    • Designing and developing educational materials to best supports student
      learning and assessment requirements
     
  • Educational strategies and frameworks
    • Designing frameworks for specific programs that may combine appropriate
      national modules with more specific custom designed electives
    • Identifying and designing effective methods and strategies for implementing
      training programs or a group of instructional sessions
     
  • Educational policy 
    • Advising industry, community and government organisations, Industry Skills
      Councils and other training providers on current government educational policy
      and priorities
