Food & Pharmaceuticals

 What we do

Food & Pharmaceuticals develops course and resources for:

food & beverage manufacture; wine production
food laboratory techniques
food technology; canning operations
pharmaceutical processes

Our courses cater for paraprofessional/technician level training in food technology, pharmaceutical and cosmetic technology and operator level training for food processing and pharmaceutical manufacturing workers.

Training is developed for specific sectors of the food industry including general foods (grocery manufacture), milling, dairy, fruit and vegetables, edible fats and oils, aerated waters, confectionary and wine.

Programs developed are provided as short courses, traineeships, certificates and diploma courses.

Development of courses involves consultations with a range of stakeholders from industry, community groups and specialist NSW TAFE units such as the Disabilities Unit, Aboriginal Development Unit and the Multicultural Education Unit. This program area has particular relationships with the National Food Industry Training Council and the NSW Food Industry Training Council.

Graduates of courses from this area find employment in production, supervision and technical (including laboratory) aspects of the food and pharmaceutical industry. Employment opportunities exist in both the public sector and private industry.
