Chemical & Environmental Industries

 What we do

Chemical & Environmental Industries develops courses and resources covering the following areas:

process manufacturing - chemicals, oil/gas, plastics/rubber & mineral products
laboratory operations; chemical testing
environmental technology
waste management
water industries; onsite sewage management

Our courses cater for paraprofessional training for laboratory technicians post-diploma specialist training in surface coating and instrumentation for laboratory technicians; and operator training in a range of processing industries, including chemicals, oils, polymers, cement, cement products, glass, water, and wastewater.

Programs developed in this area are provided as short courses, traineeships, certificates, diplomas, and graduate certificates. 

Development of courses involves consultations with a range of people from the relevant industry, unions and professional associations, and the vocational education
sector. This program area has particular relationships with the National and State Process Manufacturing Industry Training Advisory Bodies. 

Graduates of the courses find careers in in chemical laboratories, quality control laboratories, research laboratories in industry, analytical laboratories, schools, and universities as well as process operators in the chemicals, oil, and non-metallic manufacturing sectors.

The International Students Centre assists and advises international students who would like to study in Australia on a student visa at a TAFE NSW institute, TAFE English language centre or a NSW government high school.   International Students can get help at all stages, from initial enquiries through to post course completion.
