Resources ~ Study Pathways - HSC/TAFE/UniversityThis page provides information about the pathways between the NSW Higher School Certificate and TAFE and between the TAFE Mechanical Engineering Advanced Diploma and Degrees in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering at a number of universities. HSC Credit Transfer ArrangementsAs an additional bonus for the work you have already completed in the NSW Higher School Certificate you will be granted advanced standing in selected Mechanical Engineering Advanced Diploma modules. University Articulation ArrangementsOn completion of your Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Technology you may be granted advanced standing in a Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering Degree. This would reduce your degree on average by twelve months depending on the TAFE subject you have selected as part of your advanced diploma and the pass level achieved. University of Technology, Sydney (UTS)The University of Technology, Sydney Engineering Faculty is located at its Ultimo Campus. UTS Engineering will grant up to 12 months advanced standing in their Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Degree for anyone who meets their entry requirements and has completed the Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Technology with A or B average passes. To gain the maximum credits it is highly recommended that the following modules be completed as part of your Advanced Diploma:
If you have not studied Mathematics at 3 unit HSC level it is highly recommended that you do the following two Tertiary Preparation Certificate maths modules as a part of your Advanced Diploma - they will count towards the completion of it:
Otherwise it may be necessary for you to undertake a preparatory maths course at university prior to starting the course proper - this could be as much as 6 months long. University of Western Sydney (UWS)The University of Western Sydney (UWS) Engineering Faculty is located at the University’s Kingswood campus near Penrith. UWS Engineering will grant up to 12 months advanced standing in their Bachelor of Engineering Mechatronics Degree for anyone who meets their entry requirements and has completed the Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Technology. To gain the maximum credits it is highly recommended that the following modules be completed as part of your Advanced Diploma:
