This site represents works by the 1997 Graduates of the Certificate (Post Technician) in Theatrical Costume,
Ultimo Campus, Sydney Institute of Technology.
The course in Theatrical Costume incorporates three broad areas of training - costume design, costume pattern development, and costume construction.
Students have been introduced to the history of costume, researching periods from Henry VIII's Tudor England to Christian Dior's New Look.
Extensive libraries of both contemporary and period pattern blocks which facilitate the development of a large variety of period garment silhouettes have also been produced by the students during the course. Design portfolios accompany the major works that the students have completed.
The array of elaborate costumes on this site provide a visually dynamic tableau that is the result of the technical skill that epitomises the 'art of the costume marker'
