The Victorian style of bustles during 1875
inspired me to create this challenging piece, featuring framework,
excessive drapery and technical hand finishes.
Garments requiring detailed and intricate work are of
particular interest to me. My passion for brightness and fabric
co-ordination allowed me to add colour into an otherwise common
Victorian costume with positive results.
I feel that my final piece has prepared me with a good
foundation for industry scenarios when creating a period costume.
I have achieved greater technical knowledge of the complexities of
costume design.
It's amazing to see how a costume is created through
construction. My goal is to create period costumes for the opera,
and to mix my two favourite areas of garment production to create
theatrical couture.
