About this siteThe NSW Technical and Further Education (TAFE) Commission, known as TAFE NSW, is located in Australia and is the largest provider of vocational education and training in the southern hemisphere. The TAFE NSW Learning Gateway website was first launched in 1997 and primarily addresses TAFE student and teacher needs by providing access to web-based information and resources relating to the hundreds of vocational areas covered by TAFE NSW courses and programs. The Learning Gateway provides course and career information of use to potential students, parents, careers advisers and others in the community. The website has proved to be a valuable resource for employers, industry organisations, educational planners and managers, workplace trainers, researchers and those in other educational sectors. Site featuresThe Learning
Gateway has a number of structure and navigation features it
is hoped will make your visit efficient and effective.
Structure/colour codingThe website is organised around the structure of the 5 TAFE NSW Curriculum Centres, each of which manages the development of courses and resources for one or more industry sectors.
Each
Curriculum Centre is represented by a unique colour
that is used to
frame all web pages for that Centre. Pages relating to all
Centres, as you have already seen, are framed by the rainbow borders Reload & Home Page buttonsReload button - located at the top left-hand side of each Curriculum Centre page. Clicking on this button on any page will ensure that you are looking at the latest version of the page. Alternatively, you can click on the reload/refresh button on your browser's tool bar.
(A common problem for any website is that users may be
looking at an older version of a page that has been loaded
from their own computer's cache or from an intermediate
proxy server.) Home Page button - located at the top right-hand side of each page. Clicking on this button will return you directly to the Learning Gateway home page. Alternatively, you can click on the text link below the top border of every page.
Vocational Areas/Programs Index
Page indexesPage indexes exist to allow you to navigate the site without the necessity of moving up and down through hierarchical structures. There are indexes for Program Areas, Courses & Careers pages, Industry Links pages and Learning Resources pages. Page indexes can be accessed from the Quick Finder drop-down menu on the Learning Gateway home page or are accessible from the top navigation bar of appropriate web pages.
For example, if you are viewing any Courses & Careers page, you can change quickly to the equivalent page for another program area by selecting the Courses & Careers Index link at the top of the page. |
